{"id":209,"date":"2016-05-03T18:09:43","date_gmt":"2016-05-03T23:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/?p=209"},"modified":"2020-11-08T21:20:32","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T03:20:32","slug":"overlay-scroll-cuff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/?p=209","title":{"rendered":"Overlay Scroll Cuff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A <strong>sterling silver Overlay Scroll Cuff<\/strong> made in 2014&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"853\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-front.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-front.jpg 853w, https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-front-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-front-768x540.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption>A <strong>sterling silver overlay scroll cuff<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It was definitely a challenge, but I was inspired by the work of Harufumi SHIRAKI demonstrated in one of his YouTube videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing him working with his saw also enlightened me that a long, flat bench pin with about a 1\/8&#8243; slot down the middle for a few inches or so makes piercing cuffs, bracelets and long items sooooo much easier than with a &#8220;normal&#8221; V-slot bench pin, which often restrict you from using certain angles or areas on the pin due to its shorter length and\/or openness of the &#8220;V&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So much so, that after I made one and started using it, I now find myself constantly swapping between it and a &#8220;regular&#8221; pin on literally every project since, using it for the vast majority of my piercing work now, and don&#8217;t know how anyone can do without one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"805\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-side.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-side.jpg 805w, https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-side-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.silverdimensions.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/cuff-overlay_scroll-side-768x572.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption>Side view of the <strong>sterling silver overlay scroll<\/strong> bracelet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For this cuff I drew out about an inch of the scroll pattern on paper with ends that would match up to each other, then scanned that and paste\/fit the digital pieces together to create one long continuous scroll, then printed the pattern off for use as the template.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using both 6\/0 and 8\/0 blades to pierce the top layer with tight, sharp corners took a lot of patience (and not to mention more than a few blades!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It turned out really nice and is one of the pieces I&#8217;m especially proud of to this very day, although my photographs certainly don&#8217;t do it justice. \ud83d\ude41<small><br><\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sterling silver Overlay Scroll Cuff made in 2014&#8230; It was definitely a challenge, but I was inspired by the work of Harufumi SHIRAKI demonstrated in one of his YouTube videos.
