My workshop (a shed), and how it all came about to be…

A shed paired with a jeweler’s bench and work table is were I now have a little corner of the world set up to create and practice the craft of silversmithing, jewelry making, and stone and gem cutting.
This is a shot of the bench after a much needed cleaning one week when I was off work. Nothing’s better than a clean and organized bench to work from!

In 2014, after picking up the craft again after decades of absence, Kathy’s craft room no longer looked like a nice, clean craft room geared towards her paper, scrap-booking and beading crafts (which requires absolute cleanliness)!
With my resurgence in silversmithing picking up steam, an alternative location was in dire order.

So we set about building myself a jeweler’s bench from scratch in the garage out of common lumber.
Incorporating ideas from various commercial benches, we both think it turned out excellent!

With the bench moved into our work shed, it has now become my workshop where silver and gem creativity often come together in handcrafted jewelry.
